April 14, 2006

Latina Magazine and The National Campaign
Partner in Survey on Latino Teen Pregnancy

The May issue of Latina Magazine, which hits newsstands next week, includes a feature story about teen pregnancy in the Latino community, and the results of a survey done in partnership with the National Campaign.

Latina magazine explores in depth why about 50% of Latinas in the United States gets pregnant by age 20. The National Campaign partnered with Latina to ask Latino parents and teens what they think about teen pregnancy.

Among the findings from the survey: Almost half (45%) of Latino teens aged 14-18 say they have never had a helpful conversation with their parents about sex, yet 82% of parents of Latino teens say they have had such a conversation, according to a new survey released in the May 2006 issue of Latina magazine.
